Adams vibraphones sometimes require calibration of the dampener mechanism and rail heights when the instrument is first set up. Once this calibration process is done, the dampener should remain at this setting until changed.  You can make these adjustments anytime you  feel it is needed.

There are two documents attached to this post:  
1) Vibraphone Owners manual, which should explain the dampener calibration process (begins around pg. 9, at section 3.10 of the manual).
2) A step by step description of making the damper calibration adjustments.
